My song choice for Godric.
I’ve asked all of you to give me your choice for the one song that captures what Sookie is feeling the moment after Godric goes up in the blue flame. Guess it’s only fair that share mine.
My choice? Shawn Lee’s Ping Pong Orchestra vs Nino Moschello’s “Kiss the Sky.” Here are the lyrics:
I hold my head up just enough to see the sky
And when we go we won’t go slow we’ll put up such a fight
When they fade into the dust and into ash
All children know this pain will surely pass
Strong and wise and they are love
When the tide it come they will float above and
And you will be one day exactly what you are
Just keep your head up high kiss your fist and touch the skyIt’s not too late to keep the world from dying
It’s not too late to spread the love you have
One day when we are ready for crying
One day I know we’ll all be thereThe sound we hear it is our hearts they are in time
They’re poundig clear and swift the beat forever in our minds
It gives us hope it gives the strenghth, you know, to carry on
Keep fighting till the end and past the end we will be strongIt’s not too late to keep the world from dying
It’s not too late to spread the love and share
One day I know we’ll all be thereYes we will
Sure, the funk/soul drive of the song might not be something that you’d fine in Sookie Stackhouse’s music collection. That said, it works for me — the music leaves you feeling remorseful yet not regretful, due to the underlying optimism in the lyrics.

Old and Wise – Alan Parson Project
As far as my eyes can see
There are shadows approaching me
And to those I left behind
I wanted you to know
You’ve always shared my deepest thoughts
You follow where I go
CHORUS
And oh when I’m old and wise
BItter words mean little to me
Autumn winds will blow right through me
And someday in the mist of time
When they asked me if I knew you
I’d smile and say you were a friend of mine
And the sadness would be lifted from my eyes
Oh when I’m old and wise
As far as my eyes can see
There are shadows surrounding me
And to those I leave behind
I want you all to know
You’ve always shared my darkest hours
I’ll miss you when I go
CHORUS
And oh, when I’m old and wise
Heavy words that tossed and blew me
Like autumn winds will blow right through me
And someday in the mist of time
When they ask you if you knew me
Remember that you were a friend of mine
As the final curtain falls before my eyes
Oh when I’m old and wise
As far as my eyes can see
